Computer Vision in Industry
Computer Vision in Industry
The field of computer vision has taken major leaps forward in the last couple of years, resulting in increasingly reliable and precise computer vision systems. This has made such systems more relevant for industrial applications, and companies from all over the world have started adopting computer vision in their products. For instance, machine learning-based computer vision systems underpin the navigation systems of autonomous vehicles. They are also a key component of facial recognition systems and have been adopted for quality control in factory assembly lines.
The UiT Machine Learning Group are currently working with multiple companies on a number of different project. One example is our collaboration with eSmart Systems, where we are developing automatic autonomous vision-based power line inspection systems. We are also cooperating with the Norwegian Computing Center on several projects, like with development of ubiquitous cognitive computer vision for marine services and analysis of remote sensing imagery.
